Fantastic Dominican Republic Excursions.
Punta Cana is in reality a little town at the eastern coast of the Dominican Republic, though the whole east coast as well as parts of the southeast coast (Bayahibe) is known as "Punta Cana". You can think of a province as a governmental entity like a state in the United States of a Province in Canada.

If you are into historical buildings and want to experience something away from the water, you could hire a driver to take you to Higuey and you could visit the famous cathedral, the Basilica de la Altagracia. For me I'm always sticking close to water. Please click here for more information on Punta Cana as a vacation destination. When we went to Punta Cana we stayed at this place that had a great nightlife too with a disco which would really get going when the moon was bright and the party could spill over onto the beach with the music still flowing there. I think that if you are planning to go to Punta Cana it is important to do your research and read through sites like the one I've linked above to make sure the place suits you.

The best part and going to the Dominican Republic is taking the exciting tours that are available through your hotel or better yet from an independent operator who will put more into the tour. Here is a site that tells you where to find the best Dominican Republic excursions. The adventures you can have on these excursion will create life time memories you will retain forever. Instead of going way out to sea, we hugged the shoreline and visited several interesting and out of the way (No other tourists to trip over!) lagoons and coves. The view back to shore was spectacular and I filled a couple of memory cards with pictures that I still need to download, sort through, and catalog (you know how that goes sometimes, sigh). Before you plan your Dominican Republic excursion, be sure to check out the site I linked above because it contains links to some of the most recommended tour operators in the area. It has been our go to place every since our first trip when we fell in love with its charm. You can read all about it from the website.
